23rd Assembly

Our synod’s 23rd assembly concluded upon final debarkation of the Carnival Glory in New York, upon return from Saint John, in the early morning of July 12th. This assembly was not only a special celebration, but innovative in creating a new, more adventurous and economic venue for hosting assemblies. It also spurred an all-casual fellowship, that turned complete strangers from different congregations, into the best of friends in a matter of days. We rolled out the synod’s current theme, shown as our tagline, “Cleansed. Calmed. Commissioned.” This theme engaged our assembly into deep thought about our baptisms, and how it is Jesus, who calms the storms of our life, when we have faith, and that by holding onto that faith, we have the strength to go out, and accomplish our ultimate mission, thereby commissioning each one of us as missionaries.  Special enrichment sessions further studied our theme, and focused on mission and the change that our congregations can instill upon the world. (Enrichment sessions available on Media page.) Gatherings were led by the Rev. David L. Jones, and Thomas S. Drobena, bible studies and enrichment sessions were led by Rev. Allen R. German, Thomas S. Drobena, Rev. David L. Jones, and Terry Bruce.
