The Rev. Dennis Lauritsen, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Riverside, Illinois was recognized by the congregation on June 1, 2025 at a worship service observing his retirement and almost 25 years of service as their pastor. Bishop Wilma S. Kucharek of the Slovak Zion Synod—ELCA served as preacher and presider, Pastor Lauritsen and Beverly Tarbox served as assisting ministers, and minister of music David Richards and members of the congregation provided special musical and liturgical support. Local clergy from the Slovak Zion Synod and beyond participated in the festive worship, including the Rev. Karen Knutson, the Rev. James Kuemmerle, and the Rev. Keith Forni. The service concluded with the rite of Thanksgiving At The Conclusion Of A Call, at which time Pastor Lauritsen was joined by his family for the prayers and blessing.
Following worship, Pastor Lauritsen was honored at a church luncheon, during which congregants, family, and friends shared their memories over the years, as they wished Pastor Dennis, Jane, and their family God’s blessings upon this new chapter in their lives.
