On Sunday, August 20, 2023 our congregation Nativity Lutheran Church in Windsor, Ontario, Canada celebrated the 95th anniversary of their congregation, and the 30th anniversary of the Rev. Rastislav and Andrea Mičovsky and their family serving among them.
A service of Holy Communion was celebrated in the Slovak language with Pastor Mičovsky presiding and Bishop Wilma S. Kucharek preaching. The bishop preached on the persistence, humility, and faith of the Canaanite woman, and drew analogies to the faithfulness and persistence of the founders of the congregation and members over the past 95 years. She encouraged those present to follow the example of the Canaanite woman by being persistent in prayer and faithfulness, since God hears our prayers and walks with us throughout both the joys and sorrows of life.
A festive dinner including homemade soup, chicken, pork loin, homemade klobasa, sides, and abundant baked goods provided by the members followed at the church, attended by members, friends, and ecumenical guests
