In the Small Catechism of Martin Luther, we find these words about the Fifth Commandment:
“You shall not murder.
What does this mean?
We are to fear and love God, so that we neither endanger nor harm the lives of our neighbors, but instead help and support them in all of life’s needs.”
St. Paul reminds us: “Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. . .and the God of peace will be with you”(Philippians 4:8-9 NRSV).
People of God, you remain in my thoughts and prayers during these challenging times. May God bless you, keep you safe, and give you the wisdom, compassion, and perseverance to show forth in your words and actions the kind of love for others that Christ has shown to you.
