IMG_9412TRUMBULL, CONN (SZS)On the first Sunday in Advent, November 29, 2015, members and friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Trumbull, CT gathered together for an evening of table fellowship, enrichment, prayer, and song. The evening featured live holiday music, a soup supper buffet, a special guest for the enrichment of young and old alike, and a ceremony of the lighting of the outdoor Christmas tree. Evening devotions were led by the Rev. Thomas S. Drobena, Pastor at Holy Trinity Lutheran in Stafford Springs, CT. The Rev. Wilma S. Kucharek, Bishop of the Slovak Zion Synod, offered prayers and a closing benediction.

Music was performed by the Coastal Chordsmen, a Men’s Barbershop Chorus in Trumbull, CT, offering a medley of carols and arrangements to complement and celebrate the Advent and Christmas season. A visit was made at the end of supper by “St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra,” who enriched the occasion by sharing his life story (as the original St. Nicholas), bringing gifts to the children and encouraging them to follow his example and share their gifts with those in need. St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, is commemorated in the Christian church calendar on December 6.

Nearly 100 were in attendance to share each another’s company and dine together. The evening conveyed the holiday spirit of the faith community of Holy Trinity, Trumbull. We pray for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon their Advent and Christmastide ministry, that the coming Christ Child may be their Light and Guide in this holy season and in the years to come.
