Last week was my fifth week here. Even though I am a church intern, my weeks are very different. As I move from family to family, I experience their way of life and their hobbies. One of our church members works for Age Well Services. Their target group is old people, and so they do different things to help them live the best life possible. They pick them up for their doctor’s appointments, they give them health equipment, they organize art and sport classes for them.

One of the biggest part of their organization is a project called- Meals on Wheels. They prepare food for thousands of people who are not in condition of making it by themselves. Some of these people are really old, some of them are very sick and some of them can not afford anything else. The government tries to pay for most of the cost. To be able to run this project, there are so many volunters and people. Many work in the kitchen, many pack the food, and others pick to food and drop them in people’s houses.

I have never heard of such a project. I was amazed by the whole idea behind it. I was glad that there are people who want to help, I was glad that people do not think only about themselves but also about others. For one day, I could become a part of this. Instarted in the morning with packing the food for people. The whole thing was so fast. We did not have time to talk or to look around. We tried to work as fast as we could. After packing food, I went with a driver to 17 houses. All of those people were very nice and thankful. I spent the day helping others. I am very thankful that I got this opportunity to be a part of this project. Hopefully there will be more organizations like this, and more people willing to help.
