Hello there!
I’m glad you’re still reading this! I hope that you had a wonderful week, because I did. Sunday service went as usual, that means very well. I’m already much more familiar with the liturgy, so it was a bit easier for me. Right after service I got an opportunity to go to the Natural History Museum here in Pittsburgh. It was wonderful, the dinosaur skeletons brought back my childhood.
Then on Monday Bruce and Beth took me to what they call “a trail of death and destruction”. First we went to see the Flight 93 memorial. I don’t know if you know about this, but on 11. September 2001, there was one more plane, headed for the Washington Capitol. However, the passengers found enough courage to fight the terrorists. The plane unfortunately still crashed, but even though not being able to save their own lives, the brave passengers saved lives of hundreds, maybe thousands, by preventing the terrorists from crashing the plane into the city.
The next stop was the Johnstown Flood memorial. By the irresponsibility of a group of rich people, whole town got flooded with more than 2000 casualties when a dam they owned broke apart. Even the survivors lost everything they had. All of this made me sad, but still very grateful to God for providing us with everything we have and for protecting us on every step we take.
I spent quite a lot of time with the pastor this week, too. As I already mentioned, he’s teaching me how to play a guitar, which I even did on the Tuesday evening service with him. Otherwise we were getting ready for the next Sunday service and we went through preparations for the Sunday school, which I will be teaching this time. And pastor’s family got a new dog! I went to the shelter a few times with him and his daughter Carissa and they chose a cute Labrador puppy. Or, better said, the dog chose them.
Today pastor took me to a football game. I mean what they call “football” here, not what they call “soccer”. Before the game we had rcorn on a cob, ribs and pulled pork at the rib festival in front of the stadium and then we went to the game. First half was pretty amazing, it took Pittsburgh Panthers only 12 seconds to score a touchdown against Albany and then there were some more great moments in the game, but in the second half both teams somehow forgot to score. Still, it was a great experience.
After that pastor dropped me off at Bruce and Beth’s house, when they had a little party with friends. Their son Jeff with his wife Gabe and son Corbin came too, so I finally got a chance to meet them. They are staying here until Monday and they are as cool as Bruce and Beth, so we get along very well.
I didn’t want to write this during the party and now it’s almost midnight, so I’m going to get some sleep before tomorrow. So have a nice week and may God bless you!
