Here are the three best things about being an intern in Muskegon:

1.God

The reason why I wanted to be an intern this summer is that I wanted to learn from the pastor, be around people and share the gospel. I had so many dreams before I came to the US. I wanted to improve my relationship with God, be closer to His word, to Him. I expected to be a really good summer. And now I know that it will be even better. God blessed me with so many things here. He teaches me, He leads my way, He shows me things in my heart that should be removed. He gives me love towards people. It does not matter where I am- if it is during morning services with pastor, or just being with people from the congregation. I know that God has a plan for me and for this people. I am so excited what is ahead of us!

2. Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church and Congregation

I have visited many churches in Slovakia, Poland, Czeck Republic, America and Israel. However, Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church is different. Not because of the beautiful building, but because of the peoplne in the church. The congregation is not big- usually it is around 35 to 45 people, but all the people are just wonderful. You can feel their love for Jesus, their joy and welcoming hearts. The people make the whole church different. They are eager to learn, to listen, to follow Jesus. Some of them have Slovak roots- either their parent or grandparents were Slovaks. They still remember few Slovak words. Even though many of them are older, they are still around helping each other. I am so blessed to be a part of this community this summer.

3. Muskegon

Since this is not my first time being in America, I had few expectations before my arrival. I thought that Muskegon will be very similiar to Saint Louis- with fancy buildings and big city vibe. Yet I did not know how wrong I was. The first few minutes looking outside of the car changed everything. Muskegon looks like a huge park with beautiful nature surrounded by many lakes. During the summer time people enjoy spending time on the beach with family and friends or walking around the parks and having camp fire in the evening. And it is not all about the nature! Muskegon is famous for its ships that helped the soldiers during the WW2. If you are in Muskegon, you have to see USS LST 393 submarine. Not only this, but there are interesting historical places to visit. The most famous one is the Heckley’s and Hume’s house. Muskegon is a place where you can see diversity all over the place. It is the best city to spend summer in!
