“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” said Ernest Hemingway. So, last week I went to Stony lake Lutheran camp in a journey that was many things. The condition where a little rustic. But the nature surrounding the camp was beautiful.

If you read my first blog post you’ll know by now that I am a Slovak born in Romania. That’s true. But the story doesn’t end there. I am a 21 old student. I’m studying at the seminary in Bratislava, Slovakia.

As I mentioned before, the last week I went with Pastor Marcy Miller and the kids from Samuel Lutheran Church in Muskegon to Stony lake camp.  It was a week full of learning (not only for the kids, we learned from them, they from us). My day started with well of course waking up. Then at 8:15 every morning we had a meeting about what we have to do to help the better flowing of things in camp. After that breakfast , morning worship and low ropes. Low ropes were  different elements that help the children to learn more about themselves and God.

A big part of the camp experience is its separateness from the rest of the world and what that meant was that nor children or cabin counselor were allowed to use phones or any other communication device.

I lead one Bible study. We learned about who is Jesus for us. That he is a friend, a gift, but also savior, messiah, king of king. I could go enlisting things forever.

I was a blessed week in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Also during my staying at the camp I wrote my first sermon in English, and preached the past Sunday at the Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.  In the sermon we explored how God is a God full of grace who is always sowing seed’s. “It is flying all over the place. The birds are going to eat a bunch of it. The sun is going to kill a lot of it. The thorn bushes will choke a bunch more. But He keeps throwing it out there. A lot of what we do will not work. Many of our ministry ideas and efforts will fail. But if we keep throwing God’s good seed out there, some of it will find soil ready to receive it. If God can use a shepherd boy to bring down the giant Goliath, he can use us. If God can take eleven scared disciples and build a church that covers the Earth, he can use us.The good news is this: Jesus will keep throwing seed our way until we are ready and able to receive it.”(a paragraph from my sermon 😀 )

Have a blessed week.
