It has been few days since I got to America and it already feels like I have known everyone for ages. I had a chance to talk to people during Biblie study, Church Council, Service or pastoral care visits. Everyday is different, but everyday brings many challenges, new experiences and blessings.
Last week we started each day off with little service. It was great to start with praising and praying to God. After that, the pastor and I had time for devotions, reading and silence. I was really encouraged by the time alone with God. My pastor recommended me a book called “Contemplative pastor” which is a really well written book for everyone who serves the Lord and people. Even though I tried to postpone as much as I could, it was time for me to write my first english and children sermon. I spent few days studying, praying and writing.
It was not about the work at all! I got to experience my first fourth of July by going out near the lake and watching the fireworks. The next day we went camping, which was stressful for me, since it was first time for me sleeping in a tent. But it turned out great! There were more people in my age, we had smores and had late night talks. During the weekend we went downtown, visited the USS Silversides Submarine Museum.
It was again Sunday and it was time for my sermon. I was littlr bit nervous, because I did not know what to expect. All the people were just so nice and I felt like part of the community. I felt like there really is a purpose for my stay here.
The next few days will be full of little trips over the city, but next week will start againg with visiting people. I hope that it is full of God’s blessing and peace.
