Hi everybody!

I am proud to be in Amerika. I observed Americans, they welcomed me with warm hearts. I don’t know how they doing it, always keep smilling and say to me welcome to Amerika. That’s so nice. In this case I cant feel homesick so much.

In the first step I wrote something about you, Americans. You know I guess, its important to write it here.

Yesterday I just discovered Care Closet and I decided to share it with you. Whole name is correct again: The Evansville Ecumenical Care Closet, now you know, its oriented in Evansville – my town.

What does it mean? Its a building, which bought church for people, whose have law income. This,,store” is open three times per week. At this place can everybody buy some clothes, bags, books, home furnishings, toys for 0,25$ to 3$. These things bring there good people, they have no use for these thing anymore. Attention! Its not second hand as you say in Slovakia *.

Why is not called second hand? – because the second part of this building is used for food for free. People in need can take food for free once for 3 months. Volunteers, whose work here are seniors citizens. How I saw, they have always attitude. They volunteer at different times.

Who buy this food for Care Closet? The food is provided by community churches, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts conduct food drives, also.

Finacial site of Care Closet is simple, money from sale spend staff (responsible person) for paying bills.

In Slovakia* we have separately second hands and food stores for people in need.In Bratislava we have three food stores for poor people. Its not so common have it on countryside. In this type of store can people pay only with special cards (you need minimal 4 points to buy some food for family). Money for this support go from city cash desk (mayor support ).

This experience was a big challenge for me, just work in this place. I could be in touch with customers and sort some clothes with staff too. That was a great opportunity. Thanks Nancy Krake, she invited me there.

It was pretty good sample of social works in US. The Care Closet inspired me. Waw, I feel well, you know I love this type of work.
