Our Assembly Planning Committee is pleased to announce the upcoming Assembly of the Slovak Zion Synod—ELCA. We will depart New York at 4pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, aboard the Norwegian Getaway. The vessel will arrive in Bermuda at 9am on December 15, depart Bermuda at 3pm on December 16, and return to New York at 8am on Sunday, December 18. After not having an assembly in 2020, 2021, and most of 2022, we hope you will join us! And, of course, bring your family and friends!
This choice in assembly site has been made for its favorable costs when compared to land-based venues, as well as for the supportive recommendations and feedback from our past participants. We believe you will be pleased with the itinerary and amenities included in the assembly cost. An assembly cruise also keeps in accordance with a previous Synod Assembly’s unanimous resolution encouraging future assemblies at sea.
Our upcoming assembly allows ample time for enrichment, business, and personal time. On the 2 days we will be in Bermuda, there will be free time to use at your own discretion. On sea days when meetings are in session, evenings will typically be allocated for downtime, fellowship, and personal enrichment. Personal time also allows voting members to spend time with family and friends wishing to accompany them on this trip.
Registration will open August 29 and be open until September 12, 2022, at which time the cruise line requires all personal information to be submitted and all balances paid in full. This window enables us to get the great rates and amenities we are able to pass on to you. Also, following our agreement with the cruise line, all voting members and visitors seeking to attend this Synod sailing are required to book their reservations through the Synod.
Please register as soon as possible since the various cabin categories are limited and cruise rate increases and surcharges will apply after September 12.
Details about this assembly, as well as our updated online registration, are available on the synod website at szs-elca.org/assembly. The process is completed online. Your pastor/lay leader has the password to access the event page, and if you registered for the 2018 or 2019 Assemblies, you can reuse your existing user account and most of your registration should be auto-filled for you. If you’re traveling with us for the first time (or the first time in a long time), you’ll be able to create a new account when you register this year.
