Greetings to all who are registered for the upcoming 2016 Assembly of the Slovak Zion Synod!
We are fast approaching the time of the Synod Assembly.
We just wanted to take this time to talk about Passport renewals. Many of you have had your Passports for a long time, but did you know it is recommended that your Passport still be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the return date of your international travels? That means if your Passport expires on or before February 10, 2017, it’s probably a good idea to get that renewed as soon as possible!
United States Passports can be renewed easily if:
- Your most current Passport is undamaged and can be submitted with your application,
- Your most current Passport was issued when you were 16 years old or older,
- Your most current Passport was issued within the last 15 years, and
- Your most current Passport was issued in your current name OR you can legally document your name change with an original or certified copy of your marriage certificate or other official document attesting to your legal name change.
If you meet this criteria, you can renew your US Passport by Mail using form DS-82. If you don’t meet all of this criteria, you can easily apply in-person by using form DS-11 at your nearest Passport agency, or other certified Passport Application Center (most US Post Offices and some other Municipal Buildings in populous areas).
Don’t delay… Current Passport renewal processing routinely takes as long as six weeks. If you expedite your application (additional fees may apply) your turnaround time is currently three weeks, and if you expedite at a Passport Agency, turnaround is no longer than eight days.
We’re looking forward to seeing you this September, and make sure to get your Passport in order—we’d hate to have to leave you behind in Mexico. (Just kidding.)
Sincerely,
Assembly Registration Committee
