Visitors: Looking for a convenient way to stay in touch with fellow cruisers as well as stay current on shipboard events? Download the Carnival Hub app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store prior to cruise departure. The app is free, access to the daily ship schedule is free, and the ability to message your friends and family sailing with us for the Assembly can be purchased for just $5, for the duration of the sailing! This is an ideal way to stay connected, since the Synod Assembly app, called SZS Assembly Reports and Resources, cited below, will only be available to voting members.

Alternatively, you can purchase an optional WiFi package and stay in touch with friends and family back home as well. WiFi packages are as follows:

  • The Social Package allows, but limits access to, social media sites and messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger and Snapchat ($5/day)
  • The Value Package allows social media connections as well as most websites, and even email access ($15/day)
  • The Premium Package, includes everything the Value Package contains, but at twice the speeds, and adds the support of VoIP services, such as Skype Calls ($25/day)

Voting Members: If you’re a voting member of the Slovak Zion Synod Assembly 2018, then you probably remember indicating on the registration form whether you will bring a tablet that runs iOS or Android to the Assembly, in order to digitally access many of this year’s reports and resources.

Please, don’t forget to bring it with you to the Assembly! If you asked that one be provided for you, we will provide a loaner iPad tablet when you check in with our registration staff on the first evening of the cruise following dinner. Please note that loaner iPad quantities are limited to those who requested them when they registered. iPads are to be returned at the conclusion of the last plenary session and will incur a charge to your credit card if lost or not returned.

The app, SZS Assembly Reports and Resources, available here for iOS and available here for Android, can be downloaded to your tablet device at any time. (If you’re receiving a loaner iPad from us, the iPad will be given to you with the app already set up.) We suggest downloading it to your smartphone as well, for added convenience. The app will also include an interactive assembly schedule/agenda, maps of the ship’s decks, electronic voting (when the chair determines it will be used), and even a free messenger/chat service to text and chat with other assembly participants.

Please note: While you are encouraged to download it now, access to the app will not become available until we get closer to the time of the Assembly. A separate email will announce when the app is open. At that time, you will need to create a user account to log in. Please have the app downloaded and ready for when that time comes.

We’d also like to stress that each voting member of this assembly must create their own user account. Sharing is not permitted. In the event we use the voting capabilities of the app, every voting member must be using their own account so we can ensure that voting results are not inaccurate or invalid.

Since access to the app requires internet access, voting members are required to purchase the WiFi Value Package plan from Carnival for the two (sea) days during which business will be conducted. The cost of the WiFi package for those two days will be refunded back to you in the form of a cabin credit midway through the sailing.

At your discretion and personal expense, you may wish to purchase a WiFi plan (which includes access to most websites and email providers, as well as the Synod app) for the duration of the sailing. This is not only personally convenient, should you wish to stay in touch with those back home, but economical as well, if you purchase  your WiFi plan in advance on Carnival.com at significant savings.

Pro Tip: You can be signed into your app account on up to two devices simultaneously, but only connected to Carnival’s WiFi on one device at a time. We suggest switching your WiFi plan from your tablet to your smartphone when not in Plenary Session, so that you may continue to use the chat functions, access the assembly schedule, and receive push notifications while you’re on the go!

If you have any questions regarding the app or Carnival’s WiFi plans, please reach out to the Registration Committee; and, keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the announcement that the app is open, as well as other Assembly updates!

Sincerely,

Assembly Registration Committee
