TORRINGTON, CONN (SZS) — On November 30, 2014, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Stafford Springs, CT celebrated its 100th anniversary with an afternoon festival Eucharist followed by a banquet in the hall of the church. The Bishop of the Synod, the Rev. Wilma S. Kucharek, was the preacher for the occasion; pastor loci, the Rev. Thomas S. Drobena, presided, and the Rev. Robert McGurn, a former pastor of Holy Trinity, assisted. Also participating and in attendance were former pastors, the Rev. Allen German and the Rev. Linda Kraft; other former pastors, unable to attend, sent greetings to the congregation.

At the banquet, Bishop Kucharek brought words of congratulations from the sister congregations of the Synod before her presentation of a commemorative plaque from the Synod. The banquet festivities included reminiscences and fond memories of ministry given by those who had been part of the congregation’s life as either clergy or laity; the observance ended in prayer and with the singing of the Doxology.

The festival Eucharist and banquet was the culmination of a series of anniversary celebrations commemorating the ministry of Holy Trinity. It was preceded by a street fair celebration event connecting to the community, and another event in which members participated in a community building project.
