Hi! Here I am again.<\/p>\n
I hope you had a great week, because I did. I met a lot of nice people at the service on Sunday. Usually there are two of them here in East Pittsburgh, first traditional service and then contemporary, as I mentioned in my first blog entry. However, last week there was only one service, because we had a church picnic right after. Liturgy used at the Holy Trinity is completely different from the one used at Dr. Martin Luther, so I was a bit confused, but I’ll get used to it. <\/p>\n
Then I had almost two days off. On Monday Bruce and Beth took me to the Ohiopyle State Park. Nope, it’s not in Ohio, but southwestern Pennsylvania, almost at the border with West Virginia and Maryland. But it’s on the Ohio river, hence the name. Tuesday I was reading most of the day and then in the evening we had a service at the church, where I got to meet a few people I didn’t know before. Next days pastor Dave decided to show me a bit unpopular, but necessary kind of ministry- sorting Sunday school stuff, sound equipment and books. We of course did all the stuff together. Although I knew that being a pastor is definitely not only about preaching, this taught me that ministry is a really diverse thing.<\/p>\n
By the way, pastor started to teach me how to play guitar, he even lent me his own guitar to do so, so it’s possible that in a few weeks I’ll join Cory (the church deacon and a worship leader) in leading the worship. <\/p>\n
Other than that, we had a council meeting about the church finances and we did a hospital visit. I spent one of the evenings with Bruce, Beth and a few other members of the church, we went to a German restaurant for dinner and then they spent some time with us at the house. Today (Saturday, of course) was a day off, so we just did some shopping and I got a few photos of Pittsburgh at night. <\/p>\n
I’m really happy to be here, it’s a very nice place with a very nice people. Although I miss the people at DML, I’m looking forward to the experiences I’ll have here! I’m sure that when I’ll get home, I will miss both congregations. <\/p>\n
