My name is Ivan Havassy. I\u2019m 26 years old and am studying theology at the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty at Comenius University.I\u2019ve finished my fourth year at seminary and am spending this summer as an intern at the United Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp, Texas.<\/p>\n
I’m originally from Ko\u0161ice, Slovakia. Ko\u0161ice is the second largest city in my country. I\u00a0have one older sister. She is married and has two little boys. Both my parents work in a lab as chemists.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0am very\u00a0excited that I am here in the U.S. and very thankful for this opportunity. Never once did I think that maybe one day I would come to the United States, yet, here I am.I was worried and had some concerns before coming here, but now I’m very glad I did come. I have had many new experiences. This church may not be big, but the people here have very big hearts. Things also work a little differently here than in the churches at home and that has been a great inspiration for me.<\/p>\n
The first two weeks I stayed with Pastor Lemae Higgs and her two daughters. She is a\u00a0pastor in the Swiss Alp church.
\nThey took me on many trips. We visited Houston, Galveston Island and many others amazing places. On the\u00a04th of July\u00a0I was in a parade in Round Top. Next week I’m going to camp at Luterhill and really looking forward to it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
